Researchers from the URA group have presented a novel method for mapping words between Vietnamese and Bahnaric, a low-resource language spoken by ethnic minorities in Vietnam, at the 3rd Symposium on Computer Science & Engineering 2023 (SCSE) conference held at Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology. Their method, titled “Low-rank adaptation approach: Vietnamese Bahnaric lexical mapping from non-parallel corpora”, uses data augmentation techniques and the Kabsch algorithm to learn the transformation between the embedding spaces of the two languages. Despite the small size of the bilingual dictionary, their method demonstrates high accuracy and efficiency. . Their research also contributes to the preservation of Bahnaric cultural heritage and the development of machine translation systems for low-resource languages.
