Team Aio_naktho has emerged as a rising force in Vietnam’s AI community, securing third place at the prestigious 2024 Ho Chi Minh City AI Challenge: Event Retrieval from Visual Data, hosted by the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City. The team is composed of outstanding students Vu Xuan Vinh, Pham Tri Quang, Nguyen Thien Anh, Tran Duc Minh Hieu, and Do Ngoc Tan from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), Vietnam National University. Their success was guided by Associate Professor Quan Thanh Tho, whose leadership and technical expertise played a vital role in the team’s achievement.
The competition challenged participants to develop intelligent systems capable of retrieving and interpreting events from visual data. This task has significant applications in areas such as surveillance, smart media, and security analytics. Despite intense competition, Team Aio_naktho demonstrated strong technical skills, creative thinking, and effective collaboration.
Following their achievement, the team received an official certificate of commendation from HCMUT, recognizing their contribution to the university’s growing presence in the tech and AI sectors. These honors reflect not only the team’s academic excellence but also their ability to turn knowledge into impactful, real-world solutions. Their accomplishment represents a promising step forward for the future of AI innovation in Vietnam.
