17.09.2025: Welcoming the Future: URA Team Introduces AI and VR Demos to First-Year Students of UTS–HCMUT Program

On 17th Sep 2025, the URA Team proudly participated in the Commencement Day of the Transnational Bachelor of Engineering program, jointly organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). The event, held to warmly welcome the very first cohort of students joining this international program, became a special opportunity for URA to showcase cutting-edge innovations developed by our young talents.

As part of the program, the URA Team introduced three pioneering products, each representing the intersection of creativity, technology, and practical application:

  • Agentic Chatbot –  A smart assistant that helps prospective students and parents with clear, reliable answers on entry requirements, programs, tuition fees, and applications. Supporting both English and Vietnamese, it makes admission guidance faster and more accessible.
  • Virtual Try-On – An immersive application enabling users to instantly “change outfits” in a digital space. Built with advanced computer vision and augmented reality techniques, the system allows students to experience fashion virtually, offering both entertainment and future potential for online retail transformation.
  • Virtual Supermarket – A fully interactive digital marketplace, designed to replicate the shopping experience in a 3D environment. Visitors could walk through aisles, pick up items, and simulate transactions.
URA Research Group demonstrating the product at our booth

Throughout the day, the URA booth attracted the curiosity and excitement of many students, parents, and faculty members. The interactive demonstrations sparked conversations on how such technologies can be extended into education, commerce, and everyday life. For the newly admitted students, these showcases were not only engaging but also inspiring, giving them a clearer perspective on how AI can be applied to solve real problems and improve daily experiences.

The highlight of the event was the spirit of exchange. Our team engaged in discussions with international faculty, student representatives, and industry partners, sharing perspectives on the role of AI, virtual reality, and digital assistants in shaping the future of engineering education. Many students expressed that the URA demos helped them move beyond abstract concepts, allowing them to truly see the practical impact and potential of AI in society.

Participating in Commencement Day was a meaningful experience for URA Team. It was not just about presenting products, but about demonstrating the limitless possibilities when young innovators are empowered by global education and collaboration.

With the momentum gained from this event, URA Team is more motivated than ever to continue developing impactful solutions, bridging academia and industry, and contributing to the vibrant international learning community at HCMUT and UTS.
