On October 16th, a groundbreaking seminar on Artificial Intelligence (AI) took place, marking the launch of the Viettel AI Race 2025 competition. The event captivated students, offering valuable insights into the latest advancements in AI technology. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh and Dr. Quan Thanh Tho led the discussion with engaging insights into the latest AI advancements. Dr. Tuan Anh explored OCR technology for extracting data from PDF files and showcased ETL tools that power RAG. He also demonstrated a document query system that streamlines data extraction from complex documents. Dr. Tho delved into high-accuracy answer generation within RAG using LLM and presented a demo of an internal chatbot assisting with legal queries for the State Bank of Vietnam.
The seminar highlighted LLM’s ability to handle unstructured data such as PDFs, reports, and technical documents, a task once considered daunting. Thanks to LLM advancements, data extraction and analysis are now faster and more precise. The event also introduced RAG and Multimodal LLMs, which combine data retrieval and generation, greatly enhancing answer accuracy and opening new possibilities for solving complex problems. A lively Q&A session followed, where students eagerly asked about AI applications in industry and the speakers’ experiences in the field. Dr. Tuan Anh and Dr. Tho offered invaluable advice for those looking to build a career in AI.

The seminar concluded with a powerful message: “LLM is not just chat – it’s a tool that transforms scattered data into strategic knowledge.” This emphasizes the critical role LLMs play in converting raw, unstructured data into actionable insights, empowering organizations to craft sustainable strategies for the future.
