On the afternoon of August 12th, 2025, Professor Duc Thanh Nguyen, Senior Lecturer at the School of Information Technology, Deakin University, visited Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) and met with students from the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering for an engaging seminar.
During the session, Professor Nguyen began by introducing Deakin University, describing its campuses, modern facilities, academic programs, and the range of scholarships available to prospective students. He also provided practical advice on application procedures, preparation steps, and strategies for succeeding as an international student. In addition, he spoke passionately about his research in computer vision and image processing, particularly the application of AI in biodiversity analysis and estimating species diversity. Through real-world examples, he illustrated how cutting-edge technology can address environmental challenges while also inspiring students to explore innovative approaches in visual computing.
The session was interactive, with students exchanging questions and ideas about both study opportunities at Deakin and the exciting possibilities of AI research. The seminar left participants with valuable academic guidance, fresh perspectives, and renewed motivation for their own learning and research journeys.
