From 28th Jul to 8th Aug, Professor Quan Thanh Tho and colleagues from the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), embarked on a two-week professional training visit to the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). This milestone marks a crucial step towards the official launch of the Transnational Education (TNE) program of UTS at HCMUT in September 2025.
During the visit, the HCMUT team engaged in a comprehensive induction into the UTS learning ecosystem, with a special focus on the Canvas Learning Management System. They participated in hands-on sessions covering essential UTS teaching practices, including delivering tutorials, facilitating labs, and integrating active learning methods.
A highlight of the program was a series of in-person meetings with UTS academics teaching the same subjects that will be offered in the TNE program. These interactions fostered valuable exchanges on curriculum design, assessment approaches, and classroom engagement strategies, ensuring alignment in both content and delivery between the two institutions.
The training concluded with an official certificate presentation ceremony, recognizing the HCMUT lecturers as certified UTS teaching staff. This certification empowers them to deliver UTS subjects in Vietnam with the same academic standards and student experience as in Sydney.
Professor Quan Thanh Tho expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and professional guidance from UTS, noting that this collaboration not only strengthens academic ties but also brings world-class learning opportunities to Vietnamese students.
With the training complete and a strong academic partnership in place, both HCMUT and UTS are now well-prepared to launch the TNE program in 2025 a program set to enrich cross-cultural learning, broaden career horizons, and inspire the next generation of global-ready graduates.
